It promotes physical skilfulness, physical development and knowledge of the body in action.&nbsp; PE provides opportunities for pupils to be creative, competitive and face up to different challenges as individuals and in groups and teams.&nbsp; It promotes positive attitudes towards active and healthy lifestyles.&nbsp; Pupils learn how to think in different ways to suit a wide variety of creative, competitive and challenging activities.&nbsp; They will become increasingly competent and confident. They will access a broad range of opportunities to extend their agility, balance and coordination, individually and with others.&nbsp; They will have opportunity to engage in competitive (both against self and against others) and co-operative physical activities, in a range of increasingly challenging situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-container-content-9cfa9a5a\">Pupils will be taught to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>perform dances using simple movement patterns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:65%\">\n<p class=\"wp-container-content-9cfa9a5a\"><strong>Key Stage 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pupils will continue to apply and develop a broader range of skills. They will learn how to use them in different ways and to link them, to make actions and sequences of movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will have opportunity to communicate, collaborate and compete with each other.
