Dear Parents

Rev John – Leaving Communion and Presentation

You may be aware that Rev. John Tranter, our vicar, will be leaving for a new parish in the south of England in February. We will be saying thank you to him for all the work and pastoral care he has done with your children and the school family. This will be on Thursday February 6th at 2.45pm . You are welcome to attend. If you would like to contribute to a thank-you present for Rev John, please send your contribution in to school as soon as possible.

Church School Distinctiveness Award

We had a lovely time with the whole school together, and about 6 other schools, at the cathedral last Friday, to receive the award from Bishop Geoff. An article and photo appeared in both the Accrington Observer and the Lancashire Telegraph (see clipping) on Thursday.

School Fund Donations

We have for many years asked for £6 per family per term to support activities in school – and many of you have kindly sent this over the years. This amount has not gone up for many years! We would be very pleased to receive your donation as soon as possible, if you are able. This money goes towards all the extras – such as subsidising school trips (eg the cathedral trip last week was “free”,) and all the little extra treats such as Christmas parties!

Swimming – Advanced Notice

Weekly swimming lessons for all junior children will begin on February 7th. Children will need swimming kit every Friday in school – Girls: one piece costume, towel. Boys: trunks (or swimming shorts not below knee length), towel. ALL jewellery must be removed or removable by your child independently. Long hair must be tied back or a swimming cap used. If your child needs swimming goggles, you will need to confirm this in writing by obtaining a form from our school office.

A reminder that the next instalment of £30 is due before the February half term break.

Yours sincerely

Peter Williams
